The clip looks at how the corporate world influences design of consumer products and the rate at which it forces technology to advance. As my main passion involves media design and looking at the old and new, it takes a journey from the 1940's/50's up to the present day, taking a reflective look at what we have achieved with regards to design and the constant push to advance consumer products' efficiency and competency. The audio used in the clip is a re-edit of Nina Simone singing 'Take Care of Business' by Pilooski.

Driving thru

This composite image represents my interpretation of a 'Real Life Network' involving human interaction, a desire and a result.

And yes, I had a Boss combo........

Have a gander....

Here are some great blogs with content that fascinates me;

Check out
http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/04/21/celebration-of-vintage-and-retro-design/, a compilation of retro advertisements/posters/graphic design examples from different periods of the past. They talk about how designers often overlook simple priciples related to graphic design, and that looking back we can learn a lot and often find inspiration......

Also take a look at http://www.retroradar.com/category/feature-articles/ , a constant, somewhat nostalgic investigation into trends/fads of the past, picking out exceptionally interesting items from the realms of fashion, film, art and culture and displaying them for our appreciation. Our focus was on Industrial Design, and how we both felt (aesthetically) certain products that are supposedly modern, seem to be heavily influenced (in some instances appearing almost completely copied) from designs that had existed long before.

As the film could only be up to 60 seconds long, we decided to narrow down the subject matter, focussing our research on chairs. During our research we discovered many design classics had been 'regurgitated' again and again through the 'evolution' of chair design in the 20th/21st century. We decided to represent three examples of design purity that had been highly influential in later designs; the B306 Chaise Longue by Le Corbusier, Arne Jacobsen's Model 3107 or 'Seven' chair and Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Hillhouse chair.
